Working Title: One on One Members: David Gannon, Mary Rush, Annaliese Morris & Meghan Coronado
1. Concept: Two friends go out to play a 1 on 1 game of basketball against each other with one being impossibly good with comedic results, all shot as a silent film.
2. Techniques to work on: We would like to work on shooting in different camera angles of the one friend, making a lot of incredible shots. We will sequence shots of her shooting the ball from all over the court that would appear to have no shot of going in, but then for comedic effect we cut to the same shot of the ball going into the hoop. Since this will be shot as a silent film, we will be working on different shots of the friends saying one thing and then captioning another thing. We will be focusing a lot on editing with Final Cut Pro. Since this is a silent film, we will need to intertwine music that goes with rhythm of the sequence.
3. Actors/Subjects: We will use two of our group members to play the friends.
4. Equipment needed: We will need a camera, tripod, possible lighting, and editing software. We will not be using sound because this will be set up as a silent film.
5. Possible locations: We will shoot this at either Temple's out door basketball courts in the IBC or on one of the basketball courts on 16th behind the track.
6. Other logistics (releases, scheduling conflicts, etc.): We will need to make sure the music we use doesn't break any copyright laws. We will most likely have to get permission to shoot on the basketball courts. We have scheduling issues during the week, so this will most likely be shot on the weekend.
Feedback, concerns, or predictions from Group Member 1:
I'm really excited about this project! I hope it pans out how I first imagined it in my head and turns out to be funny. I have some great ideas for editing with slow motion and the soundtrack. Mary came up with a funny idea to put captions for words the characters obviously aren't saying. This is going to be a fun little project to shoot and edit. I'm a little concerned about when all our group will be able to meet since we all have different schedules but I think there is enough time allocated for us to make it work. All in all, I am hopeful and excited to get started. -Annaliese Morris

David Gannon - I think that this will be awesome to test out because I have never done a video like this before and treading on new waters really excites me. I truly hope to get it right to make the video work in a very funny way because I think that the ideas we have could really come together to make something pretty amusing. I am especially excited to edit this because I want to see what we can do with this type of sequence. The silent film idea I think was an awesome suggestion and I think it will make the video much better. Only real concern I have is the scheduling conflicts of everyone in our group but I hope it won't be a problem. I think this will be pretty awesome and I am excited to begin shooting.

Mary Rush - Like Annaliese and David said, I'm really excited to get this project going! It's going to be awesome to see how this develops under all of the suggestions we put on the table. I think with this sequence, we can easily create an interesting and unique pilot, as the modern-day silent film has not been done yet by any notable television shows. I am looking forward to shooting the sequence of basketball shots because I don't get to work with cameras a lot and I'd like to develop that skill more thoroughly. Also, I love editing, and this piece will require some serious time on Final Cut Pro, so that is another aspect that I am excited to work on. The only two matters I'm concerned about are meeting together as a group and getting our equipment. We have some scheduling conflicts, but I think in the end it will work out. Also, none of us have cameras, lights, etc. of our own, so we have to rent from the equipment office. In the past, this has been a very stressful activity for me, so hopefully that works out as well.

Meghan Coronado - I really like the idea of our test sequence, especially when Mary came up with the idea that we could make it as a kind of silent film. I think it would be cool to make it more of a modern silent film, using color film and using modern music, but maybe only at times because we still want to portray it as an old-type silent film. We would be able to make it really humorous easily, by showing the one person who is good at getting the basket in the hoop but having shots of them throwing it in the most impossible ways for it to go in the basket and then cutting to another shot showing the ball going perfectly in the basket. We would have to do a lot of editing in final cut pro, and that's actually one of my weakest points so hopefully I can following along or maybe learn a few things or help, and if I can't contribute very much hopefully there will be something else I can work and focus on in our test sequence. I do have a few ideas for different camera angles and different types of "shooting" shots we can get of the person "shooting" the ball in the basket, as well as some more ideas that we can put into it during the editing process. We can really get creative with this idea and I like that.
